Introduction
A task typically has one or multiple "resource requirements", which can be managed via the task property section and the "Resource requirement" box at the bottom of the LYNX project editor window.
Through the "Resource requirement" box, skill and resources can be assigned to task. When a task is started each resource requirement(s) gets the status started.
This article describes these two levels of statuses and the synchronization between them:
- Task statuses
- Task Resource Requirement(s) statuses
Status Behavior in LYNX
There are two statuses, a task status and a resource requirement status. The status updates on Task level are synchronized with the Resource Requirements Status(es). This is done by updating the task status in the status box in the project plan, or in the ETTC box in the My activity/Active tasks lists.
However, there is a possibility to "desynchronize" the Task Status with the Resource Requirements Status(es). This can be done by updating the resource requirement status field in the project plan, or the resource requirement ETTC field in the My activity/Active tasks lists.
Examples:
- A Task may be started for 2 Resource Requirements, but one Resource Requirement may still keep the status “Not started”.
- A Task has status started, but a Resource Requirement may already have the status “Completed”
Behavior in case of Tasks with Auto-Complete:
With an auto-complete task, the Resource Requirement ETTC will go down day by day to 0. When the ETTC is 0, LYNX considers the Resource Requirements Status as “Completed”. But ONLY the user (e.g. a Task Manager) can set the task status to completed.
