Overview
Open a project, then select Project Statistics on the Gantt toolbar. A panel opens on the right with five tabs: Details, Statistics, Buffers, Notes and Documents.
Two of them carry the numbers.
Note
If you are used to the older documentation, it describes a statistics tab on an individual task. There is no such tab in LYNX-X. These figures are reported for the project as a whole.
Fields
Statistics
| Field | What it reports |
|---|---|
| Released at | When the project was released |
| Project start, Project end | The planned span |
| Duration | Working days across that span |
| Scheduled start, Scheduled finish | What the current schedule says |
| Expected finish | Where the project is actually heading |
| Due date perf. | A number of days early or late. The panel does not say what it compares against |
| Longest path | The longest route through the plan, ignoring resource contention |
| Critical chain | The chain length when the project was released |
| Current chain length | The chain length now |
| Chain complete | How much of the chain is finished, as a percentage |
| Buffer consumed | How much of the project buffer has been spent, as a percentage |
| Feeding chain, Feeding chain compl. | The same pair of figures for feeding chains |
Buffers
| Field | What it reports |
|---|---|
| Most critical buffer, Earliest buffer | Whether this is the buffer the project list chooses to show |
| Original chain length, Current chain length | The chain when released, and now |
| Chain completed | Days of chain finished |
| Buffer size, Buffer consumed | The buffer in days, and days spent |
| Deadline, Expected | The date to hit, the date currently expected, and the gap between them |
| Priority | The project's buffer priority |
Use Select chain and the arrows to step through a project's other buffers.
Notes
The coloured bar in the project list shows the two percentages on the Buffers tab: green is Chain completed, orange is Buffer consumed. If green is ahead of orange, the work is progressing faster than the buffer is being used. If orange is well ahead of green, the buffer is being used faster than the work progresses.
To see how late a project is against its buffer, use the Buffers tab. It compares Deadline with Expected and gives the gap in days. Due date perf. on the Statistics tab is a different comparison and can show the opposite for the same project.
