Before you start
- This is for a one-off exception (a holiday, training period or other short absence), not a standing working pattern. A standing pattern belongs in the resource's assigned calendar, as a calendar rule. See Setting up a calendar.
Procedure
- Open Configuration, then select Resources.
- Select the resource.
- Open the Absence tab.
- Select + New holiday.
Enter a Description, a Period start and a Period end. LYNX-X shows the week number beside each date, so you can check you have the week you meant.
- Select Ok.
- Select Save.
Important
Ok only adds the row to the grid. Until you select Save, the toolbar still offers Revert and the period is not stored.
Expected outcome
The period appears in the resource's absence grid. The screen states what that grid means: "This schedule marks non-working periods. Resources are not available during the periods listed in this grid."
To see the period in a plan, open Res. load (from a project, or from Portfolio for the whole space). Find the skill the resource holds, then select the people icon beside it to drill into the resources behind that skill. The non-working period is drawn as a hatched band over those weeks.
Note
The band is drawn on the resource's row only. The skill's own row above it does not show it, even when that resource is the only one holding the skill. If you set an absence and cannot find it, that is usually why.
Do not expect the load profile itself to jump. In the example above, Designer and Mike Dempsey carry identical figures before and after. The absence is recorded and shown, not necessarily reflected as a visible change in load.
