Overview
In LYNX, both the My Activities List and the Active Task List display Chain Membership Indicators for each task.
These indicators help users quickly identify whether a task belongs to a Critical Chain, a Feeding Chain, or a Milestone Chain within the project network.
Understanding these indicators helps you prioritize tasks effectively and maintain focus on what truly impacts your project’s delivery.
| Indicator | Description |
|---|---|
| Task is part of the Current Longest Chain — these are the tasks directly influencing the project’s completion date. Any delay in these tasks will delay the project. | |
| Task is part of a non-critical Feeding Chain — these tasks feed into the critical chain but are not on it. Managing them prevents the creation of new bottlenecks. | |
| Task is part of multiple chains — specifically, both the Current Longest Chain and a Milestone Chain leading up to a Milestone Buffer. These tasks are crucial for both timelines. | |
| Task is part of a Milestone Chain — these tasks drive progress toward a key project milestone protected by a buffer. |
Example
Below is an example illustrating how these indicators appear in the task list.
Each task in your Active Task List or My Activities List will show one of these icons next to its name, providing instant insight into its chain membership.
Tip
Keeping an eye on chain indicators helps you:
Prioritize critical tasks first
Identify dependencies that could affect milestones
Ensure proper focus on buffer-protected deliverables
