LYNX
Normal Skill Leveling
A new feature has been added on space level to allow resource leveling on Normal tasks.
Default Lynx behavior is that tasks with the same resource are sequences after one another. For example, the following case where there are two tasks with "Anne" as a resource at 100% units. Although there are no dependencies between the tasks, LYNX schedules one after the other as Anne needs to finish the first task before having the time to work on the second task.
However, in some cases, project managers want to schedule resources where they work on two tasks at the same time, making their overall workload higher than 100%, without changing the critical chain. This is where this feature comes in. It is similar to another feature "Ignore resources assigned to virtual skills", but working on Normal skills.
The feature can be turned on via configure > space properties > turn features on/off > Always level resource assignments on Skill.
With the feature turned on, the project now looks like this:
Fixes/Improvements:
- Communication layer has been updated, so there should be less users with client connection issues.
- Some projects had tasks scheduled before the green line which is now fixed.
- Fixed an SQL loading cursor in German and French versions of LYNX.
- Normal tasks had a default max size which can be seen in the export, this is now 0.
- Reporting fixes:
- Favoring reports feature has been fixed.
- Editing the color coding for Tasks: Progress by Task Manager is working.
- Issue with project managers not having access to change stages has been fixed.
- Nested level-of-effort tasks with autoexapand used to have no duration.
- The printing of project portfolio has been updated for a better view.
- Buffer chain selection has been fixed, meaning the buffer color is correct again.
