Make projects faster?

With Lynx, we provide software to finish more projects and faster. By giving multiple options in the scheduling and views of projects, we hope to provide the tools to give you more insight in how to do this. Therefor, we have added the following buttons to find out how to make projects faster ánd to work faster with (very large) projects.

(New) Positions for the Lynx Project View buttons

The buttons have been moved or added above the Project Statistics:

	Switch Reschedule / Auto-scheduling on
	Switch “Auto-Scheduling off” (useful in case of updating very large projects)
	Switch on “Debuffered View”
	Switch on “No Contention View”

Auto-scheduling

Because Lynx reschedules the project every time a change has been made, we have added the first two buttons. These buttons are helpful when you are working with (very) large projects, because you can turn on/off these calculations. Making it possible to determine yourself when the project should be rescheduled.

No Resource Contention/ Debuffered view

To explain the behavior of the new buttons, we have created the example below. In which we have the situation that two tasks can't be performed in parellel due to Resource Contention on the System Engineer (Fabian Cancelara), which is automatically solved by Lynx. When you have the total overview of the project, this might not be visible at once. But in the Project Statistics, you can see that the critical chain is currently longer then the longest chain. Which is visualized by the view Project Buffer and supported by the view within the Resource Load, see figure:

 

With the additional button of No Resource Contention, you are able to view the project situation when there would be no resource contention within your project. Which gives you more insight in what Resource Requirements result in delay on your project. The Project Statistics also provide you the date when the project would be finished when there wouldn't be any resource contention. 

 

This view can also be combined with the Debuffered view, which is also moved to this location:

 

Unit percentage behind resource requirement in Gantt

The option has been added to show the percentage of load of a resource requirements in the Gantt. This provides a quick overview of the load on a specific task or for a specific resource, see figure:

Select current Critical Chain task in the Fever chart

When you select the circle of the project in the Progress Chart, the information from the current Critical Chain Task (Gating task) is added to the view. You are able to select that tasks and check this tasks within the project, see figure:

CCPM Priority filter in the Gantt Chart

You are now able to filter based on the CCPM Priority of a task, by adding a new column into your Project: CCPM Priority, see figure:

In this way, you are able to make your own selection of tasks based on, for instance, the first or second highest priority tasks within a project. Giving you more insight in the “second” critical chain or the chain with the lowest priority.

In addition, you can filter on Feeding, Project and Milestone buffers within the filter by using a statement in the Filter on top of the project. You are able to use statements such as:

 

Project buffer (equal to 40):

[filter:pb==40]

 

Feeding buffer (higher then 20):

[filter:fb>20]

 

Milestone buffer (between 10 and 30):

[filter:mb>=10&mb<=30]

 

Fixes:

• Correct consumption of Feeding buffer while using Just-in-time scheduling;
• Tracking in Tameflow shows information in stead of null;
• MS Project files can be imported correctly again;
• Providing the correct Expected Completion date within My Activities/Active Tasks;
• Space Readers are able to work with the General Debuffered View, also within Reporting;
• Dependency and Resource pop-up stay available when you select another task within Lynx Online;
• Cards can be added to Level-of-Effort Tasks;
• Due date property can be selected in Buffer Management of Cards;

Also a new version for Lynx-x (Android) has been released in the Google Play Store! With all new features that were included in the Windows version, we were waiting to release a new version for Android as well!
